Performace Enhancement & Injury Prevention

Sloan Physical Therapy focuses on a long-term athletic development model to analyze injury risk and design personalized programs. The program components are designed to improve an athlete's physical capabilities and reduce the likelihood of future injuries. 

Key components of the program include:

  • Balance and Stability Exercises: to improve the body's ability to maintain its center of mass over its base of support. This is foundational for all athletic movements. 
  • Dynamic movements:  for increased control with changes in position or direction while the body is in motion, like lunges or squats.
  • Object Control: to enhance skills that involve manipulation of an external object, such as throwing, catching, or kicking a ball.
  • Plyometric movements: to increase explosive use of rapid stretch followed by a concentric contraction to generate power, such as jumping or bounding.
  • Multidirectional Speed and Agility Drills: to enhance the ability to accelerate, decelerate, and change direction quickly and efficiently.
  • Strength/Endurance and Power Training: to build muscular strength (force production), endurance (ability to sustain effort), and power (rate of force production). 

By integrating these components, Sloan Physical Therapy aims to create well-rounded athletes who are not only high performing, but also resilient against injury.
